So, yesterday I go out to lunch with my RIM representative, and he tells me if I can get all my retail agents to show two new apps to each prospect, our Blackberry sales will go up overnight. Well, the first one, Slacker, immediately caught my attention, and I just knew I would be putting it to work soon. After getting some time to myself late last night, I downloaded the program, and starting building my first radio station. I named it after one of my favorite childhood bands, The Monkees. After playing one of their hits, the app preceded to pull in a number hit songs from the same era. It gave me the ability to skip or delete that song from ever playing on this station again. On the flip side, it allowed me indicate I want one of my favorites to play a bit more often on this station. You can simply save and cache this station and many other creations by inserting a micro SD disk into your Blackberry Bold (B3). This kind of application can really put a damper on the prospects of the Apple crew.
Next, my business partner from Canada states that would like to challenge all my agents with a new Facebook plug-in for the B3. It is a free download that allows you to make remote changes to your "wall" on the mobile-fly. He offered a sales-spiff for a random pop-quiz that would require the salesperson to take a picture and upload it to their site within 15 seconds. Well, after (somewhat) relunctantly creating a profile on Facebook last evening, I took on the challenge myself. It was so easy, I met and exceeded the very first time. OK, before you start to believe I'm getting a little cocky with this whole technology thing, you need to hear the reaction I received from my nearly 17-year-old daughter when I told her I had entered the Facebook age. She appears apalled when she reacts with, "oh my G--, that's for young people."
